U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, announced that John Bonsell will serve as majority staff director for the Committee. Bonsell will officially join the staff on September 17, 2018.
Bonsell, a retired Army Colonel who has been stationed in Oklahoma, previously served as minority staff director of the committee for the 113th Congress. He also served in Sen. Inhofe’s personal office as deputy chief of staff, legislative director and military legislative assistant. Bonsell comes to the Committee from SAIC where he was Vice President of Government Affairs.
“I am pleased to announce John Bonsell as the new staff director for the Committee,” Inhofe said. “As a retired Army Colonel with experience in both the government and private sector, John’s knowledge and experience will be especially valuable as we address how to modernize and align our military to face the growing threats from China and Russia, while we continue to defend against rogue states and Islamic extremists.”
“I also want to recognize and thank Chris Brose, Senator McCain’s staff director, for his leadership, especially over the past year,” Inhofe continued. “Chris has continued to provide valuable insight and I am grateful that he will continue to work with us throughout the transition.”
