SASC Chairman Inhofe and Ranking Member Reed File 'By-Request' Legislative Proposal to Begin Defense Authorization Process

Following the release of the markup schedule, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, introduced, by request, S.1215, National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020. This legislation contains the Department of Defense’s annual legislative proposals and does not reflect the annual work of the Senate Armed Services Committee. This is the first step in the legislative process for the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, providing a vehicle for its consideration. The full committee will mark up its version of the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act on May 21.
