November 18-25, 2001
Senator Carl Levin and Senator John Warner, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Armed Services, spent Thanksgiving week visiting U.S. military forces and key foreign leaders in Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Oman, Bosnia and Hungary.
The purpose of the trip was to show the Armed Services Committee's support for our uniformed forces, especially during this traditional family Thanksgiving period; to make a first-hand assessment of military operations -- past, present and future -- in Afghanistan and the Balkans; and to assess the important support by coalition nations in the region for Operation Enduring Freedom.
